Would be great to go apple picking this fall at a local farm in CT. There is one in the Shelton area, which seems nice called beardsleycider mill. Please click on the link below for details on the farm. We could meet there around 11 am. After picking we could have a picnic style lunch. You are welcome to bring your families. Depending on the number who plan to join, can send out details on what to bring for the picnic. Hope to see some of you there.

I was hoping some of us could get together to visit the Metropolitan musem on sunday the 16th around noon. There seems to be a really nice exhibit on treasures from the Kabul museum and also the only painting of Michelangelo that is on display as a loan from another museum. I have attached the link for folks to look at. we could meet at the museum itself in the center hall.

Depending on the number of people who come, I was hoping folks could contribute a 1-2$ towards the monthly fee of the meetup. Looking forward to seeing some of you there.

The Rubin Museum of Art (RMA) is a cultural and educational institution dedicated to the art of the Himalayas. The RMA collection consists of paintings, sculptures, and textiles. Although works of art range in date over two millennia, most reflect major periods and schools of Himalayan art from the 12th century onward.

The exhibitions are organized with particular care to assist viewers who are new to Himalayan art. Wall texts and interpretive panels supply aesthetic, social, and historical perspectives to both scholars and casual viewers.

CURRENT EXHIBITIONS:

What Is It?
February 4, 2009 - February 4, 2013

Himalayan art is new terrain for many people. This exhibition is intended to serve as a guide through this exhilarating landscape. It is organized into four sections, each addressing one of four basic questions about Himalayan art.

Nagas:Hill People of India

Residing in the low Himalayan hills of northeastern India and Myanmar (Burma), the Nagas are a people faced with both tradition and transition. This very diverse community is divided into a number of tribes and sub-tribes and speaks as many as 30 different languages.

Would you like to join me for cocktails at the Met Rooftop Sculpture Garden this Friday at 6pm?

If it rains that evening, we'll explore the new American Wing of the museum instead, prior to walking across the park at sunset (8pm) for an 8:30pm family-style dinner on the Upper West Side.

I live in Danbury, so if you are in this area we could share a ride or take the train together or meet at the museum at 5.45pm.

No charge for the Cocktails and the dinner will be moderately priced. There is a possibility to join up with another small group (I do not know any of them but I got this plan from their event) there if we like or keep going on our own.
